Our X51 Bus Survey

The deadline for completing our survey to better understand the demand for hourly bus services between Bridport and Dorchester has passed, and we are now working through the 687 responses.
Thank you to everyone who completed the survey – the number of responses has far exceeded our expectations!

It is clear that there is a very strong demand to improve the services along the Bridport to Dorchester corridor – both in terms of frequency and for later evening buses.

Currently, there are just 8 services on weekdays between Bridport and Dorchester (six on Saturday and none on Sundays). 94% of respondents agreed with our campaign for hourly services, with over 80% also demanding better evening services running until at least 9pm.

Our friends at Dorchester Transport Action Group (DTAG) also promoted the survey and found equally strong demand for travel westwards from Dorchester to Bridport.

Our intention will be to present the detailed findings to both Dorset Council and First Bus in the coming weeks. We will also lobby our MP and local councillors to ensure they recognise the strong public demand for improvement of our bus services.
